As demonstrated in the popular BBC television programme ‘Your House Made Perfect’, virtual reality continues to be an exciting opportunity for architects and clients to experience their designs and bring their proposals to life.  With the ability to walk round, explore and customise your own individual virtual environment, the experiences this technology offers are unparalleled to anything else in helping you visualise your dream design.

Virtual reality experiences are still not commonly offered by many architectural practices due to the installation and software costs involved, Unit3 Design Studio being one of the few limited architecture firms in the North to start providing this service at an affordable cost to clients.

We provide VR experiences to our clients with a state-of-the-art wireless Oculus headset, various architectural software packages and can present to multiple people in our Liverpool VR workspace. Whilst most virtual reality headsets are still dependent on a cabled set-up, due to our studio’s incredibly high speed broadband we can provide a completely wireless experience that allows the client to walk around and freely explore their designs.

Unit3 now offer the ability for you to experience your design ideas in virtual reality to help you better realise the vision you want to create.

Using cutting edge technology, our fully equipped studio is ready to turn your ideas in virtual realities.

Here’s how we do it…

An initial meeting will determine the key elements of your idea you wish to explore in a virtual environment.

We may need to do a survey of your property to get the key dimensions of spaces, or can use any existing plans you may have.

Initial sketches will be produced and mood boards, precedent images (and pinterest boards) will all be discussed to understand fully your brief and aspirations for the design.

The initial design is then refined and worked up into both 2D plans and 3D model concurrently for discussion and agreement with you.

During our design meetings, we’ll sketch out changes and updates whilst we talk – we’ll also give you a full bundle of drawings and sketches at each stage so you have a record of the discussions held.

Your design will then be transferred into our VR software and converted into a digital rendered model ready to be experienced in a virtual reality!

The final step is for you to experience the space and walk around the proposal in a live virtual environment!

Our studio has the capabilities for up to 10 multiple users to view the space simultaneously in both the VR headset and on our video wall. Our designers will walk you through the design, explaining the building features and spaces.

Whilst you are in the VR space, the model can also be updated by our designers in real time to allow you to make changes to finishes, wall positions, doors and appliances. We can also position the project accurately on the earth and show you how the sun/daylight will interact with the space at any time of any day / month of the year, as well as adding any type of weather condition from a snowy winter evening to a bright summers day.
