Unit3 were delighted to collaborate with Peel Holdings on the delivery of ‘The Pavilion,’ a key feature within the exciting new Wirral Waters development in Birkenhead. This partnership reflects our shared vision for creating high-quality, community-focused spaces that support modern lifestyles and set a new standard for urban regeneration in the region.
Unit3 were appointed to design a new resident amenity and co-working space at Wirral Waters, forming part of the wider regeneration of Birkenhead’s dockland area. The project involved taking a large, open-plan commercial shell and creating a welcoming, flexible interior that could support a variety of resident uses, from informal working and meetings through to social events and day-to-day relaxation.
The design approach focused on creating a series of distinct but connected zones within the space. Rather than dividing the floorplate with fixed walls, the layout uses furniture, soft screening, curtains, planting and changes in material finish to give each area its own identity while maintaining an open and communal feel.
A key part of the scheme was the creation of bespoke seating, integrated planting and adaptable furniture layouts, with selected furniture pieces supplied by Loft to complement the overall interior concept. Warm timber tones, bold floor finishes, tactile upholstery and carefully considered furniture choices help give the space a relaxed, characterful atmosphere, moving away from the feel of a conventional office or generic apartment lounge.
The completed space provides residents with a flexible shared environment that encourages working, meeting, socialising and community interaction. It adds a strong amenity offer to the development and contributes to the wider ambition for Wirral Waters as a contemporary, liveable waterfront neighbourhood.
