ISSEY MIYAKE HOMME PLISSÉ
Competition
In December 2019, Unit3 completed a competition entry for a new installation in Liverpool’s Sevenstore for fashion house Issey Miyake and their Homme Plissē collection.
We took guidance for the installation from the natural forms, colours and vertical geometries of the collection which centered around the freedom of movement, fluidity, flow and ebb, contours and the play of light. Our vision was to represent the vertical environment of a woodland setting that flows into the space from the outside, and then contrasts, inhabits and encompasses the industrial built up surroundings it inhabits.
Adopting a stark change in materiality to the existing store, emphasis was made to the installation as a focal point within the space. A muted palette of natural tones allowed the collection to harmoniously blend into the installation. As we experience an ongoing climate emergency around us, we sought sustainable, recyclable, and cost efficient materials that can satisfy a high end environment, yet achieve the most atmospheric natural calming sensations.
