Student Callum Hewitt joins Unit3 to work on Liverpool’s first ‘Box Park’ development;
Hello, I’m Callum Hewitt, a student of Wade Deacon High School, due to my aspirations of being an architect I have completed my two-week work experience program at Unit3. During my time at Unit3, I have been given a design project where I could advance my knowledge on a variety of software’s and then, using this gained knowledge, I could express my ideas on the project that I was given. Using these software’s, I produced a sketch-up model which virtually showed me the layout of the ‘Box Park’ I was creating. I then used CAD to create a floor plan for the design which showed me the layout of the ‘Box Park’ and whether my design where in fact realistic. Then to brand my event I created a variety of Logos on Adobe Illustrator and then picked the best, most simplistic whilst intricate one to adapt and use as the event logo. To clarify my ideas to the team I then refined the sketch-up model and added the logo, floor plan and reasoning for my ideas on a Presentation board. This was all done with through thorough support from the team at Unit3.
Also at Unit3, I was shown around the University of Liverpool and the opportunities it possessed. This really gave me an insight into where I may be soon and clarified my desire of becoming an architect. As well as this it shown me the projects of students in University and how the software’s I have recently learnt are put into use by the young prospering trainee architects.
To conclude, I cannot give enough praise to the team that have supported me during my time at work experience and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with them; having a glimpse into a possible future as an architect.
